翻訳研究 Translation Studies (Masaru Yamada’s Lab)
We explore Translation Studies in our laboratory. Our research interests and educational activities are as follows:
Research
- Translation technology and human translator’s intervention, including machine translation with pre-editing and post-editing
- Translation process research = TPR (our goal is to externalize one’s inner translation process)
- Pursuing translation best practices in terms of translation quantity and translatorial action
- Creating translation data, including bilingual corpora for machine learning as well as learner’s corpora
Education
- Translation in Language Teaching (TILT)
- Application of MT (Machine Translation) into language learning
- Developing online translation training materials
- Application of AVT (audio-visual translation) into English teaching
About this lab
Masaru Yamada, the owner of this lab, is a professor at the College of Intercultural Communication, Rikkyo University,
Tokyo Japan. He specializes in Translation and Interpreting Studies with a focus on translation process research (TPR), including translation technology and post-editing, translation in language teaching (TILT), and neuroscientific approaches to TPR.
